Prior to your initial appointment with one of the NYMA psychologists, you'll have an opportunity to speak by phone to determine whether she can help you with your therapy goals and to determine if the partnership is a good fit. There is no cost for this initial consultation.
During our initial session, we will clarify goals for our work together as well as a tentative plan for the length of therapy. Typical sessions are 50 minutes long.
Confidentiality is an important aspect of creating a safe space for you to form a trusting relationship with your psychologist and to do the work of therapy in a protective environment. While confidentiality is your right as a client and our responsibility as therapists, there are certain circumstances that require us to share information if we believe you or someone else is at risk of harm. We will make every attempt to discuss this with you prior to any disclosures outside of our sessions.
We provide therapy on a fee-for-service basis, and will provide you with a monthly invoice that you can submit for insurance reimbursement if your plan had out-of-network benefits. Drs. Griffing and Felopulos will provide you with a fee for evaluations based on the type and scope of the assessment.
We request that you please provide at least 24 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule am appointment. Appointments cancelled within the 24 hour window will be billed as full payment unless there is mutual agreement
At NYMA, we are not able to provide 24-hour crisis care. If you are having an emergency, call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room.
